Emergency services raced to Ventnor’s St Lawrence Shute just before 3pm this Monday. Two ambulances from Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and officers from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Joint Operations Unit answered the call to a mysterious incident at the top of the road.
Road Briefly Shut Amid Ambulance Drama
Police shut the road temporarily but have since reopened it. Witnesses reported seeing a person strapped to a stretcher being loaded into an ambulance — sparking concern and confusion.
“It was very strange,” one onlooker said. “I saw a car and thought it might have been a crash. I hope the person is okay. It all looked very serious.”
