Kent Police Clamp Down on Festive Drink and Drug Driving as 200+ Arrested Last Year
Festive Roads Under Watch
Kent Police are hitting the brakes on drink and drug driving this Christmas. Over 200 motorists were arrested in last year’s festive crackdown, and officers aren’t taking any chances this season.
The Roads Policing Unit is out in force, hunting down those reckless enough to get behind the wheel impaired. Using intelligence-led patrols, they’re targeting hotspots day and night with breath tests, roadside drug swipes, and impairment checks.
Year-Round Crime, Holiday High Alert
Drink driving isn’t just a Christmas problem — it happens all year round. But with the festive season ramping up socialising, police are doubling down. Their message is clear: there’s no safe level of alcohol in your system when driving.
Plan Ahead or Pay the Price
- Set aside money for a taxi
- Nominate a sober driver
- Avoid getting behind the wheel if you’ve been drinking
It’s simple. Plan your night out properly or risk severe consequences.
Sergeant Mark Carron on Safety
“We want everyone to enjoy themselves but act responsibly. If you are driving, don’t drink. Every year innocent motorists and pedestrians are put at risk from people who think it’s acceptable to drive under the influence. This campaign is about saying it isn’t. We’re passionate about changing bad driving behaviour to keep Kent’s roads safe. We make no allowances for drink or drug drivers – we want everyone in Kent to have a safe Christmas.”
