Tragic Death of West Chiltington Dad in Cowfold Crash
Danny Moore, 44, a beloved pedestrian from West Chiltington, was killed outright in a crash on the A272 Bolney Road in Cowfold. The fatal collision happened just after 1 a.m. on Saturday, 31 August.
Family Pays Heartbreaking Tribute
In an emotional statement, Danny’s family described him as a “devoted father, son, brother and friend.” They said: “He was hardworking, generous, and sociable. Nothing made him happier than spending time with his son—playing football, bowling, holidays in Portugal, or firing up the barbecue.”
The family added: “We are devastated and heartbroken. We miss Danny deeply and struggle to accept his absence. There’s now an irreplaceable void in our lives, and a 10-year-old boy who no longer has his daddy.”
Driver Arrested Over Deadly Crash
A 30-year-old man from London has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving and causing death by careless driving. He has since been released on bail as Sussex Police continue their investigation.

Sussex Police are urgently appealing for anyone with information about the collision to come forward. They are especially keen to hear from those with dashcam or CCTV footage.
