Woman Dead and Three Hurt in Deadly Sheppey A249 Crash
Tragedy hit Sheppey late Friday when a fatal smash between a grey Kia and a BMW on the northbound A249 claimed a woman’s life and left three others badly injured. The horror collision unfolded just after 11.20pm.
30s Woman Dies at Scene, Three Others Rushed to Hospital
Emergency teams from Kent Fire, South East Coast Ambulance Service, and police raced to the scene. Sadly, a woman in her 30s was pronounced dead at the spot. Her family have been informed.
Three survivors were rushed to hospital. A man and a woman remain in serious condition in a London hospital, while another man was treated locally.
A249 Closed Overnight, Reopened at Dawn
The road was shut overnight for police investigations but finally reopened around 8am on Saturday 31 January.
Kent Police Launch Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage
The Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is hunting for anyone who saw the crash or the vehicles before the collision.
At about 11.20pm on Friday 30 January 2026, a grey Kia was travelling southbound on the northbound carriageway of the A249 in Sheppey when it collided with a BMW.
Officers want dashcam or CCTV footage to help crack the cause.
