Teen Dies After Shocking Accident With Metal Pole on Power Line in Lancashire

A 17-year-old boy, named locally as Luke Bennett, tragically died after a group of children accidentally touched an overhead electrical line with a metal pole in Euxton, Lancashire. The youngsters were trying to retrieve a ball from a pond when disaster struck.

Emergency Services Rush to the Scene

The incident happened just after 6pm on Saturday, March 6, on Runshaw Hall Lane. Police, paramedics, and firefighters arrived promptly following reports of a seriously injured child. Despite their efforts, Luke was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other teenagers were also involved but escaped without serious injuries.

Ongoing Investigation as Community Mourns

Police confirm the investigation is in its early stages but believe the tragedy occurred after the metal pole made contact with an overhead electrical wire.

“This appalling incident has led to the tragic death of a young man. My thoughts are first and foremost with his family and loved ones at this time,” Inspector John McNamara of Lancashire Police said. “The family are being supported by specially trained officers.”

Inspector McNamara added: “I urge anyone with information to call 101 quoting log 1241 of March 6th.”
