Eyewitness Describes Terrifying Scene

“I saw the fight on Church Street,” said an anonymous witness. “After a boy was stabbed, he fell to the floor. I’m not sure if they were fighting before that.”

“I heard him scream, then someone shouted, ‘He’s been stabbed, he’s been stabbed!’ Near the pub, some boys came out wielding an orange shovel and a large stick, shouting.”

“The fight seemed to spill onto a side street. Friends of the stabbed boy came out to check on him. It was quite sad. I hope both injured boys are okay.”

“It made me so upset that they resorted to stabbing each other. I was just having a casual chat when it happened. As a mother, his screams hit me hard—I would hate for it to be my child.”

Section 60 Order in Effect

An extensive crime scene remains in place, with police launching a Section 60 Order from 7.15pm until 6am. This gives officers extra stop-and-search powers as they hunt for anyone involved.
