Six Held After Shocking Swindon Robbery
Six teenagers have been arrested following a brazen robbery near East Wichel, Swindon. The victim, a vulnerable man in his 40s, was left shaken after being attacked in broad daylight.
Victim Targeted in Alleyway Attack
On September 4, the man was walking through the alley linking East Wichel to Old Town when a gang of youths jumped him. They stole his phone, shoes, and keys, leaving him with minor injuries.
Police Nab Suspects After Public Appeal
After a public plea and thorough investigations, police arrested two 16-year-old girls, three 16-year-old boys, and a 17-year-old boy—all locals—on suspicion of robbery.
Insp Barry Reed said: “Despite the initial details of this incident being quite vague, we have been working hard to identify those involved. This was a nasty incident which left an already vulnerable man feeling particularly frightened and upset. This is unacceptable behaviour and no one should be made to feel intimidated about going out in their home town.”
“These six arrests are a really positive step in our investigation, but our enquiries remain ongoing and we’d urge anyone with further information to get in touch.”
