London Cops Seize Weapons and Drugs in Camden Crackdown

Police have struck hard in north London, seizing weapons and a haul of drugs during a proactive swoop on Camden’s streets.

Operation Surge Targets Knife Crime and Drugs

The Met’s Violent Crime Taskforce (VCTF) teamed up with Taskforce officers in Operation Surge, a joint effort to tackle violent crime in open public spaces across London. The mission: hunt down serious offenders, slash gang violence, and rid the capital of weapons and drugs.

The operation uses intelligence-led tactics like stop and search, regular patrols, and community engagement to sniff out trouble before it happens.

Four Arrested in Latest Raid

On Friday, 20 August, officers hit Camden hard, focusing on those carrying knives and the networks that supply weapons and drugs. The blitz netted four arrests on various offences, sending a strong message to criminals operating in the area.

“This surge activity highlights the ongoing work officers are doing to remove dangerous weapons and drugs from our streets. Our key aim was to focus on deterring these crimes and making communities feel safer,” said Sergeant Paul Oladimeji from the Violent Crime Taskforce.

“Tackling violent crime in communities across London is the Met’s top priority. We are working incredibly hard to take weapons off the street, engage and reassure the public, and keep our communities safe.

We cannot work alone to combat this issue, we need everyone to come together to create lasting and effective solutions.

The result of Friday’s operation reflects our relentless work to identify and detain violent offenders as lockdown lifts over the summer.”
