Horror in Belvedere: Mum and Sons Found Dead in Tragic Home Discovery
Tragic Scene Unfolded in Mayfield Road Home
The bodies of Nadja de Jager, 47, and her two young sons, Alexander, 9, and Maximus, 7, were found on March 9 after police forced their way into the family home in Belvedere.
Forensic exams revealed the heartbreaking truth: both boys were strangled, while their mother is believed to have taken her own life.
The grim discovery was made around 11:50 a.m. following serious concerns for the family’s welfare.
Police Confirm No Other Suspects
According to Detective Inspector Oliver Stride of the Met Police’s specialist crime command, Alexander and Maximus were found in an upstairs bedroom—Maximus on the bed, Alexander on the floor beside him.
The boys’ father identified the bodies, but his name has not been released.
Authorities insist they are not hunting anyone else in connection with the tragedy.
School Pays Moving Tribute to ‘Model Students’
Belvedere Infant and Junior School paid an emotional tribute to the boys.
“It is with great sadness we confirm two of our pupils, Alexander and Maximus De Jager, died at home this week,” said a spokesperson.
“Alex and Max were truly wonderful members of our school community. They were loving, caring boys with a strong desire to learn.”
“Both were model students and best friends.”
“They will be sorely missed by students and staff alike, and will live on in our hearts at Belvedere.”
“Our hearts go out to the family and their friends during this difficult time.”
Inquest Opened – More Answers Expected
The inquest into the deaths was opened and immediately adjourned during a brief hearing at Croydon Coroner’s Court.
Senior coroner Sarah Ormond-Walshe confirmed a police investigation is ongoing and expects the proceedings to conclude within six months.
Officials will then decide if a full inquest is necessary.
