Early Morning Blaze Ravages London Flat
A fire tore through half of a three-roomed flat on the first floor of a residential block at dawn. One person escaped before firefighters arrived and was rushed to hospital by ambulance crews.
Firefighters Race to Scene
The Brigade was called at 5.06am. Firefighters from Plumstead, Erith, Bexley, and East Greenwich stations battled the blaze, bringing it under control by 6.24am.
Quick Action Saves Lives
“There were lots of people already out of the building on arrival and crews carried out a search of the flat,” said Station Commander Daniel Capon, who was at the scene.
Cause Under Investigation
The exact cause of the fire remains unknown. Both the Fire Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service are investigating.
