Police Drone Nets Stolen Vans and Cannabis Farm in Lincolnshire!

Thieves Break in and Nab Vans

On Monday 2 January, crooks smashed through a fence at a Lincolnshire site and made off with vans. Quick work by the Bassetlaw Reacher team set the hunt in motion.

Drones Spot Stolen Vans, Cannabis Farm

Officers tracked the stolen vehicles to a spot near the A1 on Blyth Road, Harworth. Using a police drone, they confirmed the vans’ location from the sky. But that wasn’t all – a small cannabis grow was found and swiftly removed.

“This is another good example of how we can use our drones to assist in criminal investigations,” said PC Paul Henson of Nottinghamshire Police’s drone squad. “We got a bird’s eye view and found exactly what we were looking for.”

Drones: The Future of Policing

Police drones aren’t just for spotting stolen goods. They’re also used for crowd control, searching for missing people, and chasing down criminals.

Inspector Hayley Crawford, Bassetlaw district commander, added: “We police a huge rural area and fight hard to stop criminals using our roads and spaces. We now have more resources than ever before, and this case proves we’re putting them to good use.”
