Police Hunt Suspect After Horror Rape in Brighton’s Royal Pavilion Gardens
Detectives have released fresh images of a man wanted in connection with a brutal rape in Brighton’s iconic Royal Pavilion gardens. The chilling attack happened in the early hours of Saturday, 8 June, when a young woman was seen fleeing the scene in distress.
Desperate Appeal for Witnesses and CCTV Footage
Detective Inspector Duncan Elliott pleaded: “We believe the man in these images holds vital information. We urge him, or anyone recognising him, to come forward.”
He added: “This was a vicious attack that left the woman with serious injuries requiring hospital treatment. She is now receiving specialist support.”
Officers are asking anyone in the area around the Indian Gate at the time, as well as local homes or businesses with CCTV, to check their footage. Drivers with dash cams are also encouraged to report anything unusual.
Victim Found Distressed at Dawn
The victim, a woman in her early 20s, was spotted running from the gardens at 5.45am. A passerby’s quick call to police sparked the investigation. She disclosed she had been raped shortly before near the Indian Gate.

Police continue their work on Operation Cobalt and urge anyone with information to report online or call 101 quoting the operation name.
