Hampshire Police Hunt CCTV Hard Drives After Daring Service Station Raids
Police are on the lookout for discarded CCTV hard drives after a gang of men armed with crowbars smashed their way into several Hampshire businesses – and stole the crucial footage.
Burglars Target Businesses Across Hampshire
Officers initially investigating raids in Stony Cross and Nursling have now widened their probe. The hunt includes break-ins in Totton and Basingstoke. Hampshire’s Western Investigation team has linked four burglaries between February 16 and 19, stretching right across the county.
Violent Stick-Up at Stoney Cross Services
At 4.25am on Friday, February 16, three crooks forced their way through the rear door of the Stoney Cross services shop on the westbound A31. Staff were threatened, and one was struck on the head with a crowbar. He was rushed to Royal Bournemouth Hospital for treatment.
Cash was stolen from the till. A driver making early morning deliveries scared the gang off. They fled across the dual carriageway to a layby on the opposite side.
Failed Break-In at Basingstoke Petrol Station
Then, at 2am on Monday, February 19, three men tried to break into the Sainsbury’s petrol station shop on Wallop Drive, Hatch Warren, Basingstoke. A local resident saw the raid in progress and intervened to stop the crime. The thugs turned violent on him.
Police are desperate for the public to come forward with any information or to report any found CCTV hard drives. These could hold vital clues to cracking the case.
