Highland Cops Returns with Two Brand New Series

The hit documentary Highland Cops is back – and this time it’s doubling down with two new series! The gripping show, which follows Police Scotland’s Highlands and Islands division, has won over viewers across the UK, especially in Scotland. Produced by Firecrest Films in a BBC Scotland and BBC Factual co-commission, it promises more jaw-dropping landscapes and high-stakes policing.

Scotland’s Biggest Police Beat Under the Spotlight

David Harron, commissioning exec for BBC Scotland, said of the renewal: “Highland Cops proved hugely popular across the UK, particularly in Scotland. We’re thrilled to back two more series. The cameras will capture the challenges facing officers on the country’s largest police beat and follow a cast who show what it takes to police such a vast area.”

Each series will feature six hour-long episodes plunging viewers into the life of officers covering an incredible 12,000 square miles. From rugged mountains and remote islands to deep lochs and glens, this force faces unique challenges — from protecting endangered wildlife to searching for missing people in the wild.

Real Crime Fighting Meets Remote Highland Life

The show captures a diverse range of incidents, from major national alerts to local community issues. The Highland officers blend cutting-edge crime fighting with traditional rural policing, preserving centuries-old ways of life while tackling serious crimes requiring national support.

What really sets Highland Cops apart is its focus on the officers themselves. They’re not just enforcers in uniform – they live and breathe the communities they serve. Their bonds with locals build trust that’s key to policing in such remote areas.

Tom Coveney, BBC Factual commissioning editor, added: “With the UK’s most stunning scenery and a thrilling mix of crime-fighting, Highland Cops is a uniquely captivating blue light documentary. I can’t wait to see what stories Firecrest uncovers in the new series.”

More High Drama, More Stunning Scenery

Prepare for more heart-pounding moments and breathtaking views as Highland Cops returns to shine a light on Scotland’s wildest frontiers – and the officers who keep them safe.
