Man Busted After Throwing Shotgun Cartridges Into Buckingham Palace Grounds

Police swooped on a man around 7pm on Tuesday, 2 May, after he hurled several items — believed to be shotgun cartridges — over the gates of Buckingham Palace, SW1.

Suspicious Items Recovered and Examined

The cartridges were recovered promptly and sent for specialist analysis. Officers found the man also had a suspicious bag, triggering a security cordon around the area.

Controlled Explosion and Cobra Meeting Ordered

Experts attended and carried out a controlled explosion on the suspicious bag. No shots were fired, and there have been no reports of injuries.

The Prime Minister has called a Cobra emergency meeting for 9pm following the incident.

Man Arrested on Weapon Charges

The suspect has been arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and will be held in custody pending further investigation.
