Police sprang into action at around 7pm on Tuesday, 2 May, detaining a man who approached the gates of Buckingham Palace, SW1, before hurling several items—believed to be shotgun cartridges—onto the Palace grounds.

The suspicious cartridges were swiftly recovered and sent off for expert analysis. Thankfully, no shots were fired and no injuries have been reported.
Man Arrested Over Offensive Weapon; Suspicious Bag Triggers Evacuation
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and taken into custody. Police set up cordons after discovering a suspicious bag in his possession.
