Hunt for Jamie Gilbey Intensifies as Murder Probe Launched
Homicide detectives are deep into the search for missing Jamie Gilbey, 20, believed to have come to harm. Specialist officers are scouring South Norwood Lakes in Croydon, desperate for any clues.
Police Scour Lakes and Surrounding Roads
Anyone fishing or walking near the lake is urged to speak up if they spotted anything suspicious. Cops are especially keen to hear about unusual activity around Auckland Road, Sylvan Road, and Woodvale Avenue.
Officers discovered suspicious items near Love Lane on Sunday, 27 February, which have now been sent for analysis. Jamie, last seen on 27 January in Crystal Palace, had no criminal record. His family, supported by specialist officers, are appealing for answers.
Detective Pleads for Vital Information
“This is a terrible ordeal for Jamie’s family,” said Detective Inspector Melanie Pressley. “If you saw anything suspicious or know anything about Jamie’s recent life, please come forward. Even the smallest detail could end this family’s agony.”
“We’re aware this search is causing concern locally but want to stress there’s no wider threat to the public. We are chasing positive leads and working tirelessly to find Jamie.”
Community Officers Remain on Patrol
Chief Superintendent Dave Stringer added: “Officers will stay visible in the area for days. If you have any information or worries, please approach them. Help us bring justice for Jamie and his family.”
