Sheerness High Street Brawl: Nine Arrested After Weekend Mayhem
A violent disturbance broke out on Sheerness High Street near the Beach Street junction at around 8.30pm on Saturday, 4 May 2024. Between 10 and 15 people were involved, but thankfully no injuries have been reported.
Six Latest Suspects Nabbed in Police Crackdown
On Tuesday, 7 May, police detained six more suspects – four men, a woman, and a teenage girl – all residents of Sheerness. They have been bailed to return to the local police station as the investigation ramps up.
Swale Police Chief Vows to Hunt Down Troublemakers
Chief Inspector Diane Middlemiss of Swale’s police spoke out about the ongoing probe. “We have now arrested nine people in connection with the disturbance reported in Sheerness town centre last weekend,” she revealed.
“Incidents of violence and disorderly behaviour are completely unacceptable and have a detrimental impact on law-abiding residents and local businesses. We will be relentless in our efforts to track down those responsible.”
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Footage
Officers are urging anyone who witnessed the chaos or captured it on camera to come forward. Chief Inspector Middlemiss added: “Our investigators are continuing to urge witnesses who have not yet spoken to the police, and anybody who recorded footage of the incident, to contact the appeal line.”
