Isle of Wight Police Arrest Violent Man Who Abused Off-Duty NHS Staff

Neighbourhood officers from Hampshire Constabulary hauled in a violent man after he verbally attacked off-duty NHS workers on the Isle of Wight. The shocking incident unfolded on Tuesday evening as the victim was walking home.

Public and St John Ambulance Staff Step In

Eyewitnesses and a St John Ambulance worker, who was also heading home, rushed to help the officers at the scene near Coppins Bridge Roundabout. A driver captured footage of the chaos, showing the man being pinned to the ground following his violent outburst.

Man from Lake Arrested and Questioned

The 24-year-old man from Lake was arrested just before 5.30pm on suspicion of obstructing police and using threatening, abusive language in public. He was taken to Newport Police Station for questioning.

Police Praise Community Support

“Your Neighbourhood officers detained a violent man, who abused a member of NHS staff, whilst on their walk home this evening. Thank you to the lady and St Johns Ambo staff who helped us!” tweeted @IOWightPolice.

Hampshire Constabulary confirmed the man was later released under investigation as inquiries continue.
