Kent Police Welcomes Record-Breaking 124 New Recruits
Kent Police smashed records on Monday, 10 October 2022, with the largest monthly intake ever — 124 trainee officers started their journey at the force’s training college.
Fresh Faces Ready to Serve and Protect
The new recruits join a passionate team dedicated to safeguarding communities and putting victims first. Their first week dives straight into the essentials — learning what policing involves, mastering high standards, and training in how to capture and record evidence properly.
Recruits Share Ambitions
Among them is 25-year-old Asha Phillips, who said, “I wanted to join Kent Police because I care about people in my community and wanted a job where no two days are the same. I was a bit nervous on day one, but everyone was welcoming. By the end of my training, I hope to become a detective.”
23-year-old Viana Ilie added, “I wanted to join Kent Police because I love helping people and making a real difference. Eventually, I want to work with the Serious and Organised Crime Unit.”
Major Boost from National Uplift Programme
Kent Police is now in its third year of a national officer uplift initiative, aiming to boost resources across forces to fight crime harder than ever.
Deputy Chief Officer Ian Drysdale said: “It fills me with great pride to welcome so many new recruits into this outstanding organisation. They will make a real difference in Kent by building relationships with communities, preventing and detecting crime, supporting victims, and keeping people safe.
“I’ll be watching their careers closely and am thrilled they’ve chosen to bring their skills here to serve our communities.”
