A 53-year-old man was arrested tonight after a car ploughed into crowds celebrating Liverpool FC’s Premier League triumph in the city centre.
The shocking crash happened around 6pm on Water Street, near the end of the victory route, where tens of thousands of fans had gathered to cheer.

North West Ambulance Service Details
NWAS revealed they had extra crews on standby because of the parade. They confirmed:
- 27 patients taken to Royal Liverpool, Alder Hey, Arrowe Park, and Aintree University hospitals
- 20 people treated at the scene for minor injuries
- At least two victims, including a child, in serious condition
- A paramedic cyclist was hit but thankfully remains uninjured
NWAS said the team is “horrified and saddened” by the events and is working closely with police.
Merseyside Police Confirm No Terror Link
Deputy Chief Constable Jenny Sims spoke at a press conference:
“Our thoughts are with all those injured in tonight’s horrific incident. At this stage, we do not believe this was a terror-related attack.”
