Bleach Attack Shocks Broadway Market
A man has been arrested after a shocking bleach attack at Broadway Market, Hackney, this afternoon. Police were called to the scene around 1:40 p.m. following reports of a man being assaulted with bleach.
First Aid Saves Victim
Officers, aided by a quick-thinking passerby, provided first aid before paramedics from the London Ambulance Service arrived. The victim was treated at the scene, though his current condition remains unconfirmed.
“A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and remains in custody as enquiries continue,” confirmed the Metropolitan Police.
Market Chaos and Traffic Disruptions
The attack caused chaos at the usually bustling Broadway Market, known for its vibrant street food and retail stalls. Westgate Street was shut between Broadway Market and Sheep Lane, affecting London bus routes 236 and 394.
Transport for London said these routes are now diverted and urged passengers to expect delays.
