Gun Possession Arrest in Edgware: Police Seize Pistol and Ammo
A 41-year-old man has been arrested after specialist officers from the Metropolitan Police raided a property on Buckingham Road in Edgware. The search uncovered a pistol and eight rounds of ammunition, triggering the arrest as part of a crackdown on gun crime in London.
Man in Custody as Detectives Probe Firearm Possession
The suspect was taken into custody on suspicion of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. He is currently being questioned at a north-west London police station as detectives push forward with the ongoing investigation.
Met Police Intensify Drive to Wipe Out Gun Crime
This arrest feeds into the Met’s wider strategy to protect Londoners and rid the capital’s streets of illegal firearms. Last year, the Met hit a record low for firearms offences, seizing 386 illegal guns across London — averaging more than one weapon taken off the streets every single day.
Detective Inspector Andy Durham, leading the investigation, said: “A top priority in the Met is to tackle gun crime and make London’s streets safer for our communities. Thanks to the diligent and dedicated work of officers, we have made an arrest and seized a dangerous weapon. Guns have no place on our streets and we will continue to do everything in our power to bring offenders to justice who pose the greatest risk to Londoners.”
‘A New Met for London’ Campaign Continues
The arrest and seizure are part of the Met’s “A New Met for London” initiative. This campaign focuses on community engagement, building trust, and combating the crimes that hit Londoners hardest — especially firearm offences. Thousands of officers will remain on duty to keep London safe and reassure residents that the Met is committed to stamping out gun crime.
