Chaos in Swanstead: Police Called Over Brutal Dog Attack
Essex Police rushed to Swanstead, Basildon today after a violent dog incident erupted. Three dogs were involved, with one suffering serious injuries. A man has been arrested on suspicion of allowing a dog dangerously out of control in public.
One Dog Mauled, Taken to Vet
Witnesses described a horrific scene where two dogs attacked a third, leaving chunks of flesh torn from its body. The injured dog was swiftly taken to a vet for urgent medical treatment.
The remaining two dogs were safely contained at the scene. Police officers trained to handle such incidents are managing the situation as the investigation continues.
Police: No Public Injuries, Investigation Ongoing
“We’re on the scene of an incident involving three dogs in Swanstead, Basildon. There are no injuries to the public, and, at this stage, a man has been arrested on suspicion of having a dog dangerously out of control in public,” Essex Police confirmed. “One dog has been taken to a vet for medical treatment, and two remain contained at the scene. Appropriately trained officers are at the scene as our response to the incident continues.”
Officers have yet to confirm the breeds or owners of the dogs involved. Locals reported a heavy police presence and animal control teams at the scene.
Basildon resident Kerry Thomas, who witnessed the chaos, said:
“It was terrifying to hear the noises coming from the scene. You could tell something serious was happening, and I just hope the injured dog will be okay.”
The investigation remains active. Essex Police have promised to update the public as more details emerge.
