Suspected Meth Lab Fire Sparks Chaos

Station Commander James Ryan confirmed the incident caused major disruption. “The A2 New Cross Road, from Lewisham Way to New Cross Gate railway station, was shut but has now reopened. Drivers should still avoid the area due to ongoing delays,” he said.

The Fire Brigade was alerted at 1.34pm, with crews from New Cross, Deptford, Old Kent Road, and Lewisham rushing to the scene.

Man Arrested as Police Probe Fire Cause

The cause remains unclear, but a resident claims a meth lab was operating inside one of the rooms, possibly triggering the blaze. Police have arrested a man, who was whisked away in a van shrouded with a silver cover.

The Met Police have declined to comment so far. More updates to come.
