Chaos at Tesco: Food Fight Turns Violent in Dagenham
Police rushed to The Heathway in Dagenham at 8:56pm on Sunday, October 13 after two assaults rocked a Tesco Express store and its busy street outside. What started as a bizarre food attack quickly escalated into a serious violent blowout.
Suspect Throws Food, Then Launches Brutal Assault
Inside Tesco Express, a man hurled food at a shopper, sparking the first assault. But the violence didn’t stop there. As he stormed out, the same suspect seriously attacked a woman on the street. She was rushed to hospital with severe injuries.
Romford Man Nabbed and Banned From Police Custody Too
A 28-year-old from Romford was arrested on suspicion of Section 20 Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH). While in custody, he attacked a police officer, leading to additional charges of two counts of racially aggravated harassment and assault on an emergency worker.
He remains behind bars as cops dig deeper into the horrifying incident.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said:
We were called to The Heathway in Dagenham at around 20:56hrs on Sunday, 13 October following reports of two people being assaulted. The suspect first assaulted a member of the public by throwing food at them inside the Tesco Express store. He then seriously assaulted a female member of the public outside, who was taken to hospital with serious injuries. A 28-year-old man from Romford was arrested on suspicion of Section 20 GBH. Following an assault on an officer in custody, he faced further charges of racially aggravated harassment and assault of an emergency worker. He remains in custody. We urge any witnesses to come forward with information.
