Murder Probe Underway After Fatal Shooting in Stoke Newington
Gunfire Rocks Stoke Newington in Early Hours
Police launched a murder investigation after a man was fatally shot in Stoke Newington, northeast London. Officers were called to Dynevor Road, N16, at 12.18am on Tuesday, August 5, following reports of multiple gunshots.
At the scene, they found a 45-year-old man with serious gunshot wounds. Despite rapid treatment by London Ambulance Service paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed and are receiving support from specially trained officers.
Senior Police Issue Statement on Tragic Shooting
Detective Chief Superintendent Brittany Clarke, who heads the local investigation, said:
“Our detectives and forensic experts are working swiftly to uncover the full circumstances behind this tragic death. We know this will alarm residents, but we currently believe this was an isolated incident with no wider threat to the public.”
“Residents will see an increased police presence and a large crime scene as enquiries continue. We appreciate their patience and cooperation.”
“Anyone who witnessed the shooting or has CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage is urged to come forward immediately.”
Road Closures and Ongoing Police Inquiry
A large crime scene remains around Dynevor Road and parts of Stoke Newington High Street, causing significant road closures and disruption throughout the day. Police advise the public to avoid the area if possible.
So far, no arrests have been made. Officers are appealing for any information that could help the investigation.
