Shock Murder on M25: Man Arrested After Deadly Brawl at Cobham Services
A man in his 20s from East Surrey has been arrested on suspicion of murder following a brutal fight at the Shell petrol station at Cobham Services. The victim, attacked on Monday afternoon, has tragically died.
Murder Probe Launched After Deadly Petrol Station Clash
The drama unfolded at 3.15pm on Monday 26 June at Cobham Services, located between Junctions 9 and 10 on the M25. Witnesses reported a violent altercation between two groups who reportedly knew each other. A 20-year-old man suffered serious head injuries after being attacked by two men. Despite emergency air ambulance treatment and being rushed to St George’s Hospital, the victim died earlier today.
Police Hunt Second Suspect and Key Witnesses
Detective Chief Inspector Jo Hayes, leading the investigation, revealed the search is on for a second suspect involved in the savage assault. She urged this individual to come forward immediately. DCI Hayes said:
“This was a horrifying attack at a busy petrol station on the M25. We believe there are witnesses who haven’t yet spoken to us.”
She appealed to anyone who was at the petrol station between 3pm and 3.30pm on the day, especially customers who refuelled or visited the shop. Notably, a man captured on CCTV wearing military or camouflage clothing could hold vital clues. Police want him to get in touch.
White Van Linked to Attack Found Abandoned
Two suspects reportedly fled in a white Peugeot Partner van (registration NX63 VLP) with a roof rack and ladder on top. The van was located abandoned in Chessington earlier today and has been seized by police. Officers are piecing together the van’s movements from 3.30pm Monday until 10am today and want anyone who spotted it to come forward.
There are reports that some bystanders filmed the fight and aftermath on their phones. Police are urgently seeking this footage. They also want to speak to drivers who were at the forecourt and could have dashcam recordings.
