Tragedy in Kingston: Man Dies in Fiery Flat Blaze
A man has died after a fierce fire tore through a block of flats in Kingston, South London. The alarm was raised at around 8:18pm on Monday, October 21, when multiple reports flooded in about a blaze on Elm Road.
Firefighters Battle Blaze for Hours
Crews from Surbiton, New Malden, Richmond, and nearby stations rushed to the scene. The fire ravaged a two-room flat on the first floor of a two-storey building. Firefighters battled the flames for three hours before finally bringing the inferno under control by 11:18pm.
One Man Dies, Others Rescued
Despite the rapid response, a man was pulled from the burning flat but sadly died at the scene. Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service confirmed the tragic death. Another man was rescued using a nine-metre ladder, while two more residents received medical treatment on site.
29 Residents Evacuated to Safety
A total of 29 people were evacuated from the building. The local council stepped in to provide support for those displaced.
Investigation Underway
Both the London Fire Brigade and Metropolitan Police are probing the cause of the deadly blaze. A Metropolitan Police spokesman said:
“This is a tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased. We are working closely with the London Fire Brigade to determine the circumstances that led to this fire. We urge anyone with information to come forward.”
