Man Arrested After Shocking Attempted Kidnap in Andover

A 28-year-old man is in custody following a terrifying attempted kidnap on Micheldever Road, Andover. The victim, a woman in her 50s, had a narrow escape after being struck and grabbed by the attacker.

Woman Struck by Van and Dragged Towards Vehicle

The alarming incident happened at 5.32pm on Monday, 2 March. Police were called after reports that the woman was hit by a large white van. The driver then lunged at her, pulling her towards the back of the vehicle.

Thankfully, the quick-thinking woman fought off her attacker and got to safety. She was taken to hospital with injuries to her knee, wrist, and nose but has since been discharged.

Suspect Arrested as Police Launch Urgent Appeal

Officers described the suspect as a slim white man, aged 20s to 30s, with dark hair, wearing a green fleece. After a swift investigation, a man from Newquay was arrested on suspicion of attempted kidnap and remains in police custody.

“Extra patrols will be out in the area. Please speak to a uniformed officer if you have any information or concerns,” police urged.
