Shopkeeper Targeted in Shocking Acid Attack During East London Robbery
A shopkeeper was rushed to hospital after having acid hurled in his face during a terrifying robbery attempt at his Barking cash-and-carry this Friday afternoon.
Acid Attack at Barking Store
Two thugs stormed the store on Creek Road around 1pm, spraying what police believe was acid at the man’s face. The victim suffered from fumes and was immediately taken for emergency treatment at an east London hospital.
Suspects Flee Scene in Metallic Car
The attackers fled the scene in a metallic-coloured vehicle, leaving the shopkeeper in distress. Police say CCTV footage shows the brutal moment the acid was sprayed.
Manhunt Underway for Two Armed Robbery Suspects
Police have launched a manhunt. The first suspect is described as a black man in his 40s, wearing a dark woolly hat, navy trousers, a dark long-sleeved top, black trainers, and gloves. The second is also black, about 40s, sporting a dark cap, sunglasses, a navy blue jacket, dark trousers, trainers, and gloves.
A Met Police spokesman said: “Police were called to reports of an altercation at a commercial premises on Creek Road, Barking at approximately 1pm on Friday, 10 November. They discovered a male who appeared to have suffered the effects of inhaling fumes, believed to have been caused by acid being thrown. The man was taken to an east London hospital. It is believed two men entered the premises attempting robbery and threw an acid substance at the victim before fleeing in a metallic coloured vehicle.”
