Violent Bike Attack in Reading: Police Hunt Witnesses

Thames Valley Police are urgently calling for witnesses after a brutal assault in Reading left a 60-year-old man battered and bruised.

Unprovoked Assault on Cyclist

The shocking attack happened around 2.30pm on Monday (23 July) in Circuit Lane, close to the Bath Road junction. The victim was cycling past a group of men when one suddenly kicked and punched him, knocking him off his bike and to the ground.

The attackers then fled the scene towards Prospect Park.

Victim Hurt but Avoids Hospital

The man suffered injuries to his elbow and shoulder but thankfully did not need hospital treatment.

Suspects Described as Four Men

Police say the assailants were a group of four men, including three black men and one white man, all aged between 20 and 25.

Police Appeal for Information

Investigating officer PC Grant Barber, from Reading police, said: “This was an unprovoked attack on a 60-year-old man which left him with injuries. We urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.”

Three Arrested, One Still Under Investigation

Three men were arrested following the assault. Two have since been released with no further action. A 28-year-old man remains released under investigation as police continue their inquiries.
