Man Killed in Suspected Deliberate Hit-and-Run in Woolton

A murder probe is underway after a 47-year-old man was fatally hit by a car in Woolton, Liverpool, late Friday night.

Emergency crews rushed to a residential street at around 11.45pm on April 18 after reports of the man being struck. Despite paramedics’ best efforts, he died shortly after arriving at hospital.

41-Year-Old Arrested on Suspicion of Murder

Merseyside Police confirmed the incident is being treated as a possible murder. A 41-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.

Detective Inspector Katie Coote said:

“Our investigation is in its early stages, but it does appear the car was deliberately driven at the man. Despite the best efforts of those who came to his aid and paramedics, he sadly passed away.”

She added,

“Our thoughts are with the family at this tragic time. Specially trained officers are supporting them.”

Vehicle Seized as Forensics Probe Continues

The police have seized the vehicle believed involved in the hit-and-run and are carrying out forensic checks as part of their inquiry.

Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward

Officers are appealing for anyone who saw the incident or has CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage from Woolton around the time to get in touch.

DI Coote urged,

“We’ve launched a full investigation and need anyone with information or footage to contact us as soon as possible.”
