Heroic Locals Help Nab Bike Thief in Folkestone

Kent Police have heaped praise on local residents who helped catch a suspected motorbike thief in Folkestone.

Quick-Thinking Residents Spot Theft in Progress

Officers were called at 10.15pm on Tuesday, 31 March 2020, after reports of a group trying to nick a motorbike on Black Bull Road. Witnesses saw the gang fleeing and quickly pointed police towards a hiding suspect.

19-Year-Old Arrested Over Attempted Theft

A 19-year-old man from Folkestone was arrested on suspicion of attempted motor vehicle theft. He has since been released under investigation as enquiries continue to track down others involved.

PC Glenn Day of Folkestone’s Local Policing Team said: “We’d like to thank the members of the public who interrupted this offence and aided in the arrest.”

Police Warn Bike Owners to Stay Vigilant

PC Day added a warning for local riders: “Make sure your bikes are locked, covered, and, if possible, parked where there’s CCTV coverage.”
