Speedster Nabbed After High-Speed Chase in Lewes
A 35-year-old Lewes man was arrested following a brief but dramatic police pursuit through the town on Monday night.
Chase Ends in Landport Estate
At around 9pm on 17 August, police spotted a car racing through Lewes at excessive speed. Officers signalled the driver to stop, but he ignored them, sparking a short chase.
The vehicle finally came to a halt in the Landport estate, where both the driver and passenger were detained.
Drug Driving and More: Multiple Charges
The driver failed a roadside DrugWipe test, and a search of the car uncovered a small stash of cannabis, which officers seized immediately.
The man now faces a raft of charges: drug-driving, dangerous driving, cannabis possession, driving without insurance, and failing to stop for police.
He remains in police custody as investigations continue.
