Manhunt Underway After Teen Punched on Bus in Sidcup
Police launch hunt for thug who clocked a 17-year-old boy in the face on a Sidcup bus stop in broad daylight.
Unprovoked Attack Shocks Local Bus Stop
Detectives are on the lookout after a shocking assault on a teenager on Old Farm Road East, Sidcup. The 17-year-old victim was punched without warning after stepping off the number 51 bus at around 3.05pm on Tuesday, 14 January.
The victim was minding his own business when trouble started. A man, who had also got off the bus, was bumped by a group of passing schoolkids. This sparked a heated confrontation.
The man stumbled into the teen and launched into a barrage of swearing. When the youngster tried to walk away, the man wouldn’t let him go — then socked him in the face and fled.
Injuries and Description of Suspect
The victim was helped by a passerby and later diagnosed with a fractured eye socket at hospital.
Police have released a description of the suspect:
- White male, 40s-50s
- Shaved head
- Wearing a hi-vis jacket with “Lead Roofing” on the back
- Blue Adidas baseball cap
- Camouflage army vest
- Dark blue shorts with Arsenal FC logo
- Carrying a red shoulder bag
- Tattoos on right hand and left calf
Police Plea: Help Catch This Sidcup Villain
PC David Searle, Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command, said: “This was a completely unprovoked assault causing nasty injury and distress. We won’t tolerate this behaviour.
The attacker fled through Holy Trinity churchyard towards Hurst Road. We believe he likely lives locally in Sidcup.”
“If you recognise this man or have info, call 101 quoting reference 3900726/20.”
Sidcup locals are urged to keep their eyes peeled and report any sightings. The hunt is on.
