Knife-Wielding Thief Strikes in Southampton at 3am
Police are on the hunt after a woman was threatened and robbed outside a block of flats in Southampton in the early hours of Monday, June 13.
Robber Threatens Woman with Knife
A 47-year-old woman was confronted by a man armed with a knife or similar blade outside the communal entrance at James Street flats (numbers 21-65) around 3am. The attacker demanded her belongings and snatched her handbag containing three mobile phones, a purse, and a mini iPad.
The woman screamed for help, forcing the thief to flee on foot towards Chantry footbridge. Thankfully, she wasn’t hurt.
Police Description of Suspect
- White male, late 30s to early 40s
- 6 feet tall, slim build
- Short brown hair, clean-shaven
- Wearing a grey hooded jacket, light blue jeans, and trainers

Detective Constable Maria Sweeney from the Western Investigation Team said: “We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward. Did you hear a commotion on James Street? Did you see a man running from the area?”
