Met Police Hunt Suspected Serial Sexual Attacker in SE18
Detectives from the Met’s south-east Command Unit are on the lookout for a man linked to a string of sexual assaults in SE18. The first victim came forward on Sunday, 9 February.
Victims Targeted in Godfrey Road and Whitby Road Areas
The first attack happened at 5.40pm on Friday, 7 February, on Godfrey Road. A woman in her 20s was sexually assaulted. She tried to snap a photo of the attacker but failed.
She described the suspect as a black male, possibly Somali, aged 16-18. He wore a three-quarter length coat with a brown/blond fur hood, a black backpack, dark grey trousers, and smart black shoes.
The second victim, a woman in her 50s, called police on 12 February after being sexually assaulted by touching in a car park near Whitby Road, SE18. She said the attacker matched the description given by the first victim and fled the scene.
Threatened with a Knife in Third Attack
The third victim, another woman in her 20s, reported an assault on Wednesday, 19 February. This time it happened around 8pm in the lobby of a block of flats on Godfrey Road. The attacker threatened to stab her when she fought back but ran off before causing injuries.
She described the man as a black male wearing a blue coat with a furry hood.
Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
Detective Constable Camilla Price said, “We have three investigations with a similar suspect description and method. I believe these assaults are linked. We want anyone who saw anything or has information to contact us.”
