Film Set Explosion Near Silvertown Tunnel Goes Terribly Wrong
A controlled explosion on a film set near the Silvertown Tunnel construction site exploded into chaos today. What was supposed to be a special effect erupted out of control, destroying a van and severely damaging a car and lorry nearby.
Van Engulfed as Fire Brigade Rushes In
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) was called just after midday to tackle the blaze. A spokesperson said, “We arrived to find a van fully engulfed in flames, with fire spreading to a nearby car and lorry.” The fire was quickly brought under control, but the van was completely destroyed and surrounding vehicles badly damaged.
Eyewitnesses Shocked by Unexpected Blaze
Locals reported hearing a loud bang followed by thick smoke rising from the film set. One eyewitness said, “At first, we thought it was part of the filming, but then we saw the fire spreading to the van and realised something had gone wrong.”
Investigation Underway as Safety Concerns Rise
The explosion was part of a film called I Don’t Care About You, Lez. Early reports suggest a breach of safety protocols may have led to the fire spreading so quickly. The LFB confirmed an investigation is ongoing to determine the cause and whether adequate safety measures were in place.
No injuries have been reported, but the incident has sparked fresh worries about the safety of pyrotechnics and large-scale filming near busy urban areas.
Silvertown Tunnel Construction Unaffected but Risks Highlighted
Thankfully, the nearby Silvertown Tunnel construction site was not damaged and work continues as planned. However, experts warn that film productions near major infrastructure projects pose serious risks.
The LFB has urged all film crews to be vigilant and strictly follow safety rules when carrying out controlled explosions or other hazardous stunts.
