Fake Cop Scare in Bournemouth – Police Warn Public to Stay Alert!

Police are hunting a man who posed as an officer to get into a woman’s home in Bournemouth. The shocking incident happened on Wellington Road at 5.36pm on Wednesday, 6 March 2019.

Suspicious ‘Undercover Officer’ Turns Up at Door

The woman reported a man claiming to be a police officer who wanted to search her house. But he wasn’t in uniform. When asked for ID, he told her: “You don’t need to see my ID, I’m undercover.”

The man was armed with handcuffs and had an earpiece in his right ear. The woman let him into a communal area but quickly said she was calling the police. That’s when he scarpered.

Police Describe Fake Officer – What to Look Out For

  • White male, around 20 years old
  • Dark hair
  • Wearing a black jacket and dark trousers
  • Bandage on a finger of his left hand

Police Issue Safety Warning

PC Joe Terry of Bournemouth Police urged the public: “If you have any doubts about someone claiming to be an officer, don’t let them in. Real officers always carry ID and will show it if asked.”
