A young boy has tragically died, and his mother has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a horrific incident on Windstar Drive this Sunday afternoon.

Emergency Services Rush to Scene

Police were called to the property shortly after 3pm on December 15 following urgent welfare concerns for a woman and child. Paramedics and emergency crews rushed to the scene.

Despite desperate efforts, the young boy was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman, believed to be his mother, was treated at hospital and her condition has since improved. She was later arrested on suspicion of murder as the investigation intensified.

Detective Chief Inspector Alan Blakesley, leading the investigation, called the case a “tragic loss of life.”

“First and foremost, this is a tragic incident in which a child has lost his life. I ask the South Ockendon community – and beyond – to refrain from speculation,” he said.

“Specialist officers are steadily piecing together what happened before emergency services were called. This is a complex inquiry and will take time.”

Police confirmed no other suspects are currently being sought in connection with the case.
