Tragic Murder-Suicide Shakes Staines Family
A heartbroken mother has paid a tearful tribute after her husband and three young sons were tragically found dead in what police suspect was a murder-suicide at their Surrey home.
Family Found Dead at Staines-Upon-Thames Home
Piotr Swiderski, 31, was discovered alongside his three young children at their house on Bremer Road on Saturday afternoon. The children include Dominik, 3, and two-year-old twins Nikodem and Kacper.
Angelika Swiderska, Piotr’s wife and mother of the boys, spoke out today. She said, “Piotr was an amazing husband and father to Kacper, Nikodem, and Dominik. He loved us with all his heart and would have done anything for us. The children adored their daddy.”
She added, “Our boys were happy, active children, full of life and always smiling. Even when I was sad, they would tell me ‘Mummy, smile like us.’ We are grieving deeply and ask for privacy as we try to understand why this tragedy happened.”
Community Mourns, Police Investigate
Angelika expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support, thanking the community for their heartfelt messages, flowers, cards, and teddy bears. “Your kindness means the world to us,” she said.
Surrey Police arrived at the scene around 1:15pm on Saturday. Officers believe no third-party was involved and describe the deaths as an isolated incident. Post-mortems and formal identifications are planned for the coming days.
Neighbours Speak Out Amid Shock
Neighbours described the family as quiet and friendly. One, Deep Kaila, said, “I’ve known Piotr for 35 years – we were good friends. His family are devastated. He was a fit, skinny man who spent time at the allotment nearby.”
Another neighbour recalled, “There were horrific screams and everyone came outside. It’s unbelievable and traumatic. We’re still in shock.”
Official Investigation Underway
Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Hicks called it a “truly tragic incident” and thanked the community for their support.
Surrey Police have referred the case to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to previous contact with the family. An IOPC spokesperson confirmed they are assessing whether any action is needed.
Our thoughts are with the Swiderski family during this devastating time.
