Oxford Murder Probe Underway After Southampton Man Dies Following Brutal Attack

Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit has launched a murder investigation after a 22-year-old man from Southampton died in hospital following a savage assault in Oxford.

Stabbed and Hit by Vehicle in Shocking Attack

The victim was attacked late last Wednesday (27/2) on Southfield Road. Officers say he was stabbed multiple times and struck by a vehicle before being rushed to John Radcliffe Hospital. Despite the best efforts of medics, he succumbed to his injuries this evening (6/3).

His grieving family have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers.

Details Emerge as Police Hunt Witnesses

Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Blaik revealed the attack began around 11.20pm on Ridgefield Road and then moved to Southfield Road. He said a number of people were involved in the incident.

“Sadly, the injuries sustained by the victim have proved fatal, and a murder investigation has been launched,” DCI Blaik said. “We urgently need anyone who saw what happened or has any footage—mobile phone, CCTV or dash-cam—to come forward.”
