Murder Probe Launched After Pedestrian Fatally Hit in Brighton
A manhunt is on after a pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Brighton in the early hours of Saturday, December 23.
White Van Flees Scene After Deadly Crash
The tragic collision happened around 5am at the junction of Preston Road and Cumberland Road. A white van reportedly struck the 26-year-old local man before speeding off.
Police swiftly tracked down the vehicle on the A27 near Worthing later that morning. The driver, a 40-year-old Brighton man, was arrested on suspicion of murder and taken into custody.
Road Closure and Police Appeal
The victim was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed and is receiving support from specially trained officers.
Authorities have closed the road between Preston Drove and Knoyle Road. Motorists are urged to avoid the area while investigations continue.

“This is a fast-moving investigation, but a suspect has already been arrested. There will be a significant police presence as we work to uncover the full circumstances.”
