Knife-Wielding Thief Targets BMW Owner in Portsmouth

Police are hunting a man who threatened a motorist with a knife in a shocking carjacking attempt in Portsmouth.

The dramatic incident unfolded just before 1.30pm on April 23, when a 30-year-old man left a shop on Clarendon Road.

Victim Escapes Knife Threat and Foils Theft

According to reports, the suspect demanded the victim get in the BMW and hand over the keys at knifepoint.

But the quick-thinking victim slammed the brakes near the Clarence Road junction and bolted on foot along Clarendon Road.

The attacker fled into a nearby alleyway on Malvern Road. Luckily, the victim escaped unharmed and recovered the car.

Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage

Officers want to speak to the man pictured in CCTV images taken around the scene, believing he may have vital information.

They’re also seeking an elderly couple spotted nearby, plus anyone with dashcam footage or who saw the incident.
