Man, 25, Dies After Late Evening Attack in Tilehurst
Tragic Scene in Dulnan Close
Just before 7pm tonight (6/2), police rushed to reports of a violent altercation in Dulnan Close, Tilehurst. A 25-year-old man was found with multiple injuries and sadly died at the scene.
Police Launch Murder Probe
There is a heavy police presence in the area that is expected to stay as officers dig deep into the circumstances surrounding the death. No arrests have been made yet.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Shearwood from the Major Crime Unit said: “We have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in Reading this evening. The case is in its early stages, but we are conducting thorough enquiries to establish exactly what happened.”
Community Urged to Come Forward
DCI Shearwood urged anyone with information to contact Thames Valley Police immediately on 101, quoting reference 1619 of 6/2/21. Anonymous tips can be given to the charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.
Superintendent Nick John, Reading Local Policing Area Commander, added: “This incident will worry the local community. Officers will remain in the area carrying out enquiries, so please speak to them if you have any concerns or information.”
Support for Family
The victim’s next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specially trained officers. Superintendent John said: “Our thoughts go out to the man’s family and friends during this very difficult time.”
