Murder Probe Launched After Man Found Dead in Barton Home
Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit has launched a murder investigation after a man was found lifeless inside a house in Barton, Oxfordshire.
Man in His 50s Found With Serious Injuries
Officers were called to a property on Brome Place at around 11.30am on Monday (24 April) following concerns for the welfare of a man. Tragically, the man, believed to be in his fifties, was discovered with serious head and facial injuries.
It emerged the man was assaulted the night before near Underhill Circus shops. Friends had taken him home, but he did not seek medical help or inform the police.
Police Appeal for Witnesses After Assault
Detective Inspector Mike Roddy, leading the investigation, said: “We believe the victim was attacked by an unknown man and woman around 9.30pm on Saturday outside Barton shops. He was knocked to the floor but did not report the incident at the time.
“We’ve launched a murder investigation but are keeping an open mind on the circumstances. We ask the public not to speculate and urge anyone who was in Barton between 8.30pm and 10pm on Saturday who saw anything to come forward.”
There have been no arrests so far. Police have increased patrols and are conducting scene watches at both the assault site and the victim’s home. The victim’s next of kin have been informed and are receiving support.
