Knife-Wielding Gang Held After Shocking Attempted Robbery in Basildon
Man Targeted on Whitmore Way
A man was threatened with a knife just before 6:30pm on Monday, 3 April, on Whitmore Way. A gang demanded his phone in a terrifying robbery attempt.
Luckily, the victim escaped the scene and rushed straight to Basildon Police Station for help.
Police Spring Into Action
Armed response officers swiftly arrived and arrested three men suspected of attempted robbery. All three remain in custody as inquiries continue.
Chief Inspector Speaks Out
“Thankfully this victim was not harmed and nothing was stolen,” said Chief Inspector Daniel McHugh, Basildon District Commander. “We understand the community’s concern and have increased police patrols in the area.”
“We conducted stop and searches of several individuals matching descriptions. Our investigation is ongoing, and we’ve arrested three suspects who remain in custody.”
“We urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has information to come forward.”
