Woman Raped on Footbridge Near Fareham Station in Early Hours
Harrowing attack in Fareham as a 22-year-old woman was raped on a footbridge over Western Way near the train station. The horrific incident took place between 1:20am and 2:05am on Saturday 19 March.
Attack Details: Victim Approached After Leaving Pub
The victim left the Slug and Lettuce pub at around 1am and walked along West Street when an unknown man approached her. He then threatened and attacked her on the footbridge close to Fareham train station.
Suspect Description & Police Appeal
- White male, aged 20s to 40s
- About 5ft 11ins tall, slim build
- Full beard, blond or grey in colour
- Medium length hair
Detective Chief Inspector Roger Wood from Hampshire Constabulary’s Operation Amberstone said: “We take these reports very seriously. Officers have been conducting extensive enquiries, reviewing CCTV, and increasing patrols in the town centre, especially around the train station and the A27.”
He added: “We urge anyone who was out between midnight and 3am on that morning, and saw anyone matching this description or acting suspiciously, to contact us immediately. Any dashcam footage could be crucial.”
