Daring Police Chase Ends in Orchard Abandonment!
On Monday 12 September 2022, a Mitsubishi Shogun driver gave cops the slip on narrow country lanes around Cliffe Woods. Between 2.40pm and 3pm, police signalled the driver to stop on Town Road — but he slammed the accelerator instead, speeding and overtaking a lorry and car during a heart-stopping pursuit.
High-Speed Escape Turns to Off-Road Getaway
The wild chase raced through Higham Road and Cooling Road before the driver tore off-road into a field. The abandoned vehicle was later found dumped in an orchard, raising alarm bells.
Police Helicopter Scours Area, Suspect Nabbed
With a police helicopter joining the hunt, officers tracked down and arrested a 37-year-old man from Rochester. He faces suspicion of failing to stop and dangerous driving but has since been released pending further investigation.
